I disagree. His utter inability in video, and the necessary still-photographer kludge that results, are glaring and obnoxious. And, in this awful, disjointed slide show, he manages to make the same mistake YouTube makers make, time wasted

Regarding simplicity, I’ve observed the following about design. Usually, designs become more complex with time. If the RATE of complexity increase exceeds a certain level, the design is crap and that approach needs to be scrapped. Occasi

You’re not wrong, but my philosophy is to use these things only as long as they’re friendly. I had “free” Netflix until a few days ago. I enjoyed it, but not enough to subscribe. I’ll just move on.

Here is my guess: 45% of players don’t play well enough to win, even at even odds. Kind of mini-Dunning Krueger. They’re hoping for luck, and love to tell stories to their friends when they win. 30% are degenerate gamblers. The balance pla

You don’t understand anything about fused fiber. There’s no useful theory. Everything is process art and exact replication. It’s probably true in semiconductors too. TMC and Intel use the same equipment vendors.

It ain’t “organization.” I studied so hard in high school, college, and my first year of graduate school that I laughed sometimes at the problems on final exams— because I had seen very similar ones in my preparation. That’s why this scand

Here’s the same kind of cheating. I was working at a well-funded ($86M Series B) fiberoptic startup in Fremont in 2000. We were trying to develop a polarization-maintaining fused fiber coupler, which we knew little about except for reading

Referring to the three-way “FORTRAN” syntax, you say, “The three-way "if" was more powerful than just checking for a negative, but was probably more confusing,” this is not right. As a 15-year-old at Stuyvesant, in 1966, learning
