That's interesting. I work with many PhDs and always refer to them as Dr so-and-so in formal settings or introductions. Most of the doctors I know aren't MDs. I do see your point though. There are quite a few doctorate degrees, and even

Yes, I have tried viper mode, and it's a good effort. But it can only handle the basics, or at least when I tried it was just the basics. I have a ton of vim scripts customizing vim, adding features, etc., that just don't work with viper

Your mom might select a kindle fire if she hears from all her savvy friends and family that the kindle fire delivers a better experience. She may even hear why it does, but she may not care about the why, just that trusted sources inform h

I want to use emacs. I really do, mainly because of its lisp integration. Partly because I don't like being "locked" into vim. This article does make me want to give it a shot again. But it is so painful to try to switch. It's a heavy

Batteries are pretty easy to replace in newer (last few years) macs. ifixit.com has really good guides for digging around inside your mac. This ( http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-MacBook-Pro-13-Inch-U... ) guide is for my mac from 2

I agree. I've struggled with highlighting my accomplishments in the past, "tooting my own horn" so to speak. I guess to me it can feel like bragging or boasting, but that is something to get over. I have found that where I work, if I don'

I was lacking in math background going into college, though it wasn't the fault of my schooling. I just wasn't ready for it yet. I struggled with algebra, which may or may not have been teacher related. I hadn't taken trig at all, and I

I don't think I would. I guess it depends on what sort of apps run on it. If I wanted to get them something to play games on, it'd probably be an iPad... kindle software runs on there so you get the book aspect. Very expensive gift for

I'm actually a big fan of the full screen mode. I spend about half my time on a 13" screen, and the other half on 22. I actually like the auto sort mode for fullscreen/desktops as well, which surprised even me. But I like being a swipe or
