A very much related article, which can even be considered a response to the articles like OP of sorts, is “I Can't Do Anything for Fun Anymore”[1][2] by Dave Bennett. I seriously recommend reading it. [1] https://www.bennett

I see your point, but FROM-first SQL would provide better support for autocomplete. Right now in e.g. psql when you write "SELECT " and press <Tab>, it can't help you with the columns. But if you could write "FROM

In general, I love SQL. It's one of my favourite languages (or rather, language families) to play and tinker with. But the fact that SELECT comes before FROM has always ground my gears. Thanks to this article, I now finally have a be

I am a partially vision-impaired man, and I really can't stand the dark-grey on light-grey texts that a lot of modern web pages have. They are essentially unreadable to me. In order to comfortably read this article, I had to go to Fi

I like the flow of your question: “who is using any of these”… “except for the ones people actually use” :-P On a more serious note, in my personal experience, the GCC and the LLVM back-ends are generally much better at math- and computatio

E-Mails typeset in TeX sounds amazing! Right now you'd have to compile your TeX code to PDF/PS/DjVu and send that, which is far from perfect.

Plaintext? Is that a new CSS framework? /jk Very few enterprises these days provide a “Text only, please” option in their E-Mail subscription options. Jira is, by all means, terrible software, but at least they do have this feature. I

Uhm, no, they cannot be mutated. If you use a structure with two integers as a key and then change one of these integers, then you have a new value, and a new key, just like with integers.

AFAIK, “undefined behaviour” is not a thing in Go The Language (there is some undefined behaviour in the Go The StdLib). The Go Specification[1] doesn't even contain the word “undefined”, and only has two instances of “unspecified”. I

I see now, thanks. Existing maps will probably remain that way forever, but the new Generics Draft Design[1], if implemented, should allow people to easily write a wrapper that will work on anything. [1]: https://go.googlesource.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Map keys in Go can be strings, numbers, pointers, some structs, etc. And that was the case since at least Go 1.0.

See here[1]. From what I've gathered, you should set GOPRIVATE appropriately, otherwise the Go Module Mirror(s) and the Go Checksum Database(s) may know that you have a private repo called “github.com/you/very-private”. It co
