Being that Khan Academy isn't necessarily a complete learning experience/solution on its own makes this difficult. The most important one: Having a mentor or guide to assist when a student runs into problems or doesn't understand or is mi

That's exactly what needs to happen. The teacher as a knowledge spout doesn't make sense anymore in most places since we can get the knowledge from 100 other sources faster and probably better. In addition and regards to your assessment po

And the cycle continues. Fire the teachers! The students aren't learning - they're the problem! Fire the administrators! Fire the teachers! The students aren't trying! Fire the administrators!... Perhaps the system itself is the problem. C

To add on to the language problem - all Finns have to learn Swedish as well as English. I came from a strictly Swedish speaking part of Finland, and had to learn Finnish and English from the very start. And the primary thing that the Finni

Supposedly most super successful sports stars weren't the best when they were 12 years old (or however young). Most of the ones that rose to the very top were average or above average early in their lives, but through an unusual amount of

From my knowledge no one really says that a technical degree leads to better reading/writing/reasoning skills. Then again not very many say what a technical degree really teaches you either. Funny system. Pure liberal arts programs are in

This is great. Few issues: 1. The "generating" process didn't do anything until I hit refresh, then everything appeared. 2. The "Forward a copy of this report via email" link doesn't do anything? (I'm in Chrome 8) 3. Reading the improvem

I've attempted running and meditating. So far I haven't figured it out. Lately instead and towards the end of my jog I start walking earlier and meditate during the walk a few minutes before reaching home. Seems easier for now anyway. B

Hold on. Nokia does a ridiculous amount of research into cell phone technology. I agree it's a side project now, but do you think they seriously are "abandoning" it? Where have you heard that? I don't think Nokia would completely throw

This second issue is for sure one of the core issues facing us. I'm not either aware of large scale efforts taking place. Obama's/Duncan's teacher accountability efforts I don't think will do all too much to help. The only solution I see

I think an important point is also that Nokia isn't abandoning MeeGo and their own OSes. Those I imagine will play a significant role in the future (again).
