Really sad to hear this news. Personal anecdote from when friends went through a family tragedy - the daily mail were incredibly invasive and insensitive. They trawled Facebook to pull photos (like they’ve done here) but also figured out cl

I’ve done some sailing but have no real authority when it comes to vessels like these. Friends of mine are pilots on the Thames (London) and I seem to recall one of them telling me it was over 10 years training before you could bring a big

A single Unicode codepoint could be represented in a couple of different ways (either decomposed into 2 or as 1). Assume it’s the single codepoint representation. The font you’re using can (and probably will) rewrite it as 2 glyphs using th

I have never see that on all my years on a Mac (though admittedly I’m not dealing in languages where I encounter it often). I’m assuming there’s an issue with the gpos table in the font you’re using so the dots aren’t negative shifted into

This is somewhat in line with a comment I wrote yesterday about listening to music from vinyl ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39803620 ). Spotify primarily breaks the experience by making it hard for me to find somethi

I feel like it’s probably not a leap to go from this to having a PDF renderer as a backend. The trickiness is in the layout, which this is already doing. Looks to be a lower level api and a way to render to absolutely positioned html. That

Totally. We’ve tried Retool in the past and it wasn’t for me, but I’ve also looked at both airplane and windmill not long ago but decided the risk / reward just isn’t there. Sucks to be a customer on the other side of this now.

After seeing it mentioned on here a bunch of times over the years, I finally read Master of Doom a couple of months back. Great book! The games they were producing were incredibly exciting to play at the time, but it’s even more inspiring l

Funny enough I’ve found myself just doing it naturally in cases where I was transferring a list of records. I’d still been using the json extension though feeling a bit off about it. Recently (this year) I was flicking through a repo and sa

No, I haven’t tried it. It looks great but unfortunately the per connection pricing makes it not ideal for us. (We’ve had a couple of messages back and forth on here in the past about it). Most of our customers have low numbers of users, so

And to clarify on the third party providers. Assuming every org is using Azure - that’s 1 provider per org. So 53 orgs would be an extra $1,000 / month?

That sounds like just what I want. ZITADEL was already on my list to try in the next round. Can you clarify the pricing / plan required for that feature set?

I’m searching for ReactFetch and not finding anything. My 10 years in React tell me that react isn’t a library focused on data fetching, maybe I’m missing something and I would happily discuss it if you point me towards some more informatio

That’s… not react’s job? React is all about efficiently taking state and rendering it. We use mobx for managing state. We use Hasura for syncing. We use react for display. That works well for us and our requirements.

I do get the caution, but I think that even in that case there’s enough momentum behind Ruff for the community to fork and carry on. Obviously it would be pretty crummy to end up in a situation like pyright where MS really have leant in to

If all they did right now was leave Ruff exactly as it was and walk away they would have given the Python community a great gift. Sure, it’s rendered a bunch of projects obsolete, but it’s because it’s so much better than the predecessors.
