Are you not aware that the region between "saturating 64 PCIe channels" and "spinning disks" contains a huge space of performance, much of which might be acceptable?

Can you link to a reputable source for what settings I should use on my asrock motherboard? I'd like to avoid this.

I have a 65W TDP CPU, and the difference in power draw (measured at the outlet) from idle to full CPU load is over 100W; it seems to just raise the clock until it hist 95C, so if I limit the CPU fan's top speed, the power draw goes dow

Random IOPS through a SATA interface is orders of magnitude faster on NAND vs a spinning disk. A SATA SSD and a spinning disk might as well be two completely different categories of device for any non-sequential workload.

Not being able to do a touch-and-go without crashing afterwards seems like a significant flaw in the aircraft. Isn't there an arrested-landing equipped version of the F35? Could this same problem happen with a bolter?

From the article I linked: "...capacities larger than that only available from a few specialty vendors at eye-watering prices" From what I can tell, this was true when it was written, but has changed since with the Samsung QVO 8TB

They don't work for everybody though; I have ADHD and Ritalin/Focalin help just a little (and only if I take them to the point where I feel like pressed-meat in the mornings), while Adderall gives me hallucinations.

The author uses a number larger than 4TB as "high" (source https://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/blog/tech/NVMeOvertaking... , where they lament that SATA SSDs stop at 4TB).

Author has an article on that too[1] To explain what I learned on my own: If you want to (for example) put 4 NVME drives (4 lanes each) in a 16x slot, then you need two things: 1. The 16x slot actually needs to have 16 lanes (on consumer mo

I looked into this as an option because (similar to the author, from the sounds of it[A]): 1. I already had a 2.5" hotswap setup 2. 2.5" 8TB SSDs are 4x as expensive as 8TB NVMEs. A: https://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks&#

It seems like it would have to be more efficient to further treat the semi-treated wastewater. However there is often resistance to putting treated waste-water into reservoirs.

Is it possible to put the trackpad "above" (as in closer to the display) the keyboard? This is to me the obvious correct place to put it, but I'm in the clear minority.

I don't think it was core architecture issues. My impression is that over the years their efforts to get into low-power devices never got the full force of their engineering prowess.

Is your argument that "If a literal translation of a sentence doesn't make sense, then the translation for each word must be wrong?" If so, that's trivial to find counterexamples for: It's not hard to find Japanese

1. GNOME is the 800lb gorilla of linux DEs, so I would be surprised if it weren't the most common DE on any distro that doesn't default to something else. 2. I didn't mean to imply that Hyperland is driven by NixOS (NixOS is

I hear Hyprland second only to Gnome in the NixOS world (where it's arguably easier to try different desktop environments compared to e.g. Ubuntu). Now it could just be that Hyprland users are more vocal than XFCE or plasma users, so i

If you do 1 load of laundry per person per day (which is absurd), then the clothes washer cant' be even 1/4 of the over 80 gallons per person per day TFA claims.
