Yep. The answer to "why do X thing in React/JS" is usually "why not?"

Ha, yeah. I gave a talk on this project once and pointed out that "If it's possible to do on 1980's hardware, it's possible to do in React". Also, I'm pretty sure there are many websites out there pushing aroun

Good question, and mainly to see if I could. Also, React was a convenient way to render some DOM. But you're right, vanilla JS would easily do the job.

That's right, which is actually kind of the point. It's amazing that 320 divs can be shuffled around the screen at 60 fps. Browsers are amazing!

Shameless plug: at work we created axe-storybook-testing [1], which can be used to run accessibility tests against Storybook stories [2] on CI. 1. https://github.com/chanzuckerberg/axe-storybook-testing 2. https:/

I understand and sympathize with this view. But it seems likely that a federal judge is more likely to be a target of something like this. Mostly because of the nature of their work.

Prey was an excellent game that I really enjoyed. To me it's not quite the same, since it's not as dense with people/NPCs. The only games that I can recall really coming close to Deus Ex are... Deus Ex Human Revolution and Ma

This is really cool! It would be nice to see h tags used for article headings. That way people using assistive technology can navigate around faster. And this may be a good opportunity to use the article tag.

I forget where, but somewhere I read that at large companies relatively small optimizations can be worth millions of dollars. Because of that, it's worth it for these companies to apply a lot of engineering resources to optimization pr

That's weird. The WASD keys work for me in Firefox. Do you have shortcuts bound to those keys? Maybe I need to preventDefault() on keypresses, or something.

That's the reason I used React in the first place - because I'm very familiar with it. Made it easier to focus on the concepts, not the technology.

My worry about asking it as a question is that because it's kind of esoteric, someone could have all the tools they need to implement it, and not know it. That's probably where your guidance comes in, though.

You're right, this is definitely not really 3d. It's more of a trick to give the illusion of perspective to a 2d scene. Made for some nice games in the early 90s, though!

It's possible that all the data scientists you know are not a representative sample. I've met smart data scientists and engineers who've gone to a bootcamp. People who are good and bad at their jobs come from a huge variety o
