I did a talk on that at OHM2013 but sadly the recordings got lost. Will blog it up one day. You can be a "good" open source company and still make money! It does require a lot of planning though.

I suggest actually _reading_ the post. It notes the tradeoff. It also notes we offer near infinite support for people asking politely and making their problems known. We also note that it isn't just a matter of scale.
