That's the first file share app that doesn't miss the point (I don't want to install anything, just send a file).

GNU assembler, nasm, if you really need to go low level, usually you don’t.

I would go further and say that most companies would prefer to solve issues via specializing instead of generalizing. For example, if there is a quality problem most products would hire someone with QA experience or create a QA team instead

I think the logic (there’s a link to an opinionated article they base their recommendations on) is the same as with TLS1.3, why wait until something gets broken? It selects a few safe choices and disables everything else. You don’t usually

Slower (as in less bandwidth and larger latencies) connection, using more CPU. Not sure if that makes any difference if you don’t use it for a tunnel or open a tons of connection for some reason.

It’s feels odd that how these hardening guides focus on crypto and then pretend that TOFU is perfectly secure.

CPU and OS independent methods. For example to shutdown, reboot or change video mode. Much easier to run a bytecode sandboxed on any platform.

What would you use instead of bytecode? I think the problem with ACPI is the clunky implementation, not the basic ideas themselves.

But C assert.h checks can be disabled by setting NDEBUG and sometimes are for production builds. It’s not meant for bounds checking or anything that required for correctness, but for asserting invariants, hence the name.

Higher CPU usage paradoxically means better performance. When I last did OPS we used to watch total CPU usage of all services and if it was not 100%, then we started to look for a bottleneck to fix.

I don’t doubt it is a very good skill to have, but have you found it making any bad habits? Like always having an external oracle you can rely on to tell your solution is correct or getting used to problems having a “right” solution?

The EPU is a generator that is used as an emergency backup if someone wondered. Fun fact, some mushrooms also contain hydrazine, including champignons. Proper heat treatment gets rid of it.

It’s deployed on an all-Microsoft stack and despite that it’s not working. Do MS still makes you think you need to pay for an Azure service to have WS in your app? It used to be the case.

Even C# seems like something stuck in the 1990s compared to Kotlin. (I know it’s not a high bar).
