Thanks for your report. It's back now to business as usual. To answer your questions, I use Google's own DNS at home with full control over the stack. För a minute I wasn't able to access Google at all while the rest of the i

I use qwerty and azerty, and in both I never felt typing the sequence was any harder than typing any other regular word. Generally speaking, I prefer sequential "shortcuts" then multikey bindings.

The vim version is much easier, if you ask me: 3 strokes, 2 keys and 0 combinations. The one you suggest however requires 4 strokes (ctrl then o then shift then s), 4 keys (ctrl, o, shift, s) and 2 combinations. The "cc" sequence

Using the terminal becomes much more cozy and comfortable after I activate vim-mode. A mistake 3 words earlier? No problem: <esc>3bcw and I'm good to go. Want to delete the whole thing? Even easier: <esc>cc I can even use &

Poor TSMC (and ASML)! They were already struggling with capacity to fulfill orders from their established customers. With ARM now joining the party, I don't know how they're going to cope. Edit: The new CPU will be built with the

I liked digg v2 (I guess), when it relaunched as a sort of curator of interesting articles (and videos). For years it was my go-to place when bored and wanted something interesting to read. I guess that in an ocean of upvote-based platforms

As a (former) reporter, site monitoring is a big part of what I do on a daily basis and I used many, many such services. I can attest that, at least from the landing page, this seems to be a very good execution of the concept, especially th

Sometimes I wish some kind of weird disaster would strike that somehow only erases the protocols and styling/markup languages invented in the last 60 years -- without losing any data -- to force us to start over, but with the benefit o

This reminded of a CK Lewis bit about how modern humans deploy a lot of resources trying to save "weak" babies, and thus undoing evolution's natural selection process.

Even the concerted effort of a competent administration wouldn't be enough to cancel a system that's a century in the making. Keyword: competent.

I get it. But what I'm saying is that the impact of a single misguided administration, while can be very devastating, is not enough to write off american super power status in research. With appropriate planning and funding, the next a

I recently read "Chip War" and it talked about an era (around the 80s and 90s) were american dominance on electronics (and economy) seemed in deep decline. Japan was the next big thing. But the collective efforts of some governmen

The problem is that not all governments constrain themselves to only use requests and/or allow companies to challenge said requests. And that's at least what you get dealing with Apple and the USA (most of the time).

That's exactly the kind of situation I had in mind when I wrote that. Goodstein’s theory would take more symbols than there are atoms in the observable universe to write down in "classic" maths. To "fix" this, mathe

This is a fairly new question; from the early 20th century, iirc. There were many questions with no answers for literal centuries and thousands trying, and failing, to crack them. A solution was ultimately found despite that. A new "ma

I suspect that coming up with a set of rules as to who would and wouldn't be honored in such a manner would inevitably lead to some real-world violence at some point in the future. Let's leave this out of our commonly used code.

Yeah. The new challenge seems easier to solve since it basically is hand-holding the LLMs into what the result should look like. I think a more challenging, well, challenge, would be to offer an even more absurd scenario and see how the mod
