I can't recommend [Practical Deep Learning for Coders]( http://course.fast.ai/index.html ) enough. I am going currently through it and it is extremely educational and practical.

I would highly recommend Andrej Karpathy's Hacker's guide to Neural Networks. A step by step guide with little math to cover the basics of NN. http://karpathy.github.io/neuralnets/

Thanks for the comment. The goal is to have it as a portfolio of the projects I have published over the years. The Github contributions are very minor btw :)
