Personally, I have not heard of any startup willing to spend the time or money to sponsor a H1B. Many startup jobs are advertised with a clear restriction that they are looking only for citizens/GC holders.

You're basically SOL. Work visas nearly always only go to well established companies or body shops (who've learnt how to game the system). Plus, in this recession, it would be hard to prove there is a lack of Americans willing or able to do

I think it's unlikely that a VC would want to compete with an existing startup. If they had an idea relevant to one of the startups it's more likely that they would just give it to the startup and/or start funding them for it.

Possibly all the folks actually capable of fixing the bugs quickly have quit or were laid off. If Adobe has only second tier developers left that would explain this kind of situation.

IMO, 200k doesn't set you up for life, so it's not worth your life. One year is quite a long time and things _will_ go wrong.

Hmm, would the company have its DR/backup servers seized as well? And what if the servers are in the US or cloud-based?
