Yeah, I expected something more substantial. While my personal experience confirms that XFS is more suitable for I/O intensive stuff, it's still nothing more than anectdotal evidence, and it's not indicative for other people&

Definitely! I'm not against big picture solutions -- I just don't see then need to postpone action on an individual level until a big picture solution has been put in place. The changes we need to do will require a large cultural

Yeah, that's a nice way to solve it actually, but I suspect that taxing sexual intercourse based on how frequent it happens and with whom it happens might just be a bit difficult. :P

What we can do is to skip unnecessary travel, use public transport whenever we can, stop buying fairly useless consumer products for our own leisure, and the most important ones: realise that reducing our collective carbon footprint will re

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. We're here now, we can't change the past, and blaming previous generations is a waste of time when we need to act now. Most of us know what to do. We just need to start doing it.

If you want to go down that road then I suggest you start looking at injuries for spare-time daredevils without insurance first (and professional athletes, but I think most of those have private insurance anyway).

This. As long as the nest boxes have fresh hay in them and you keep track of any nests (and brooding hens) in the garden, then the eggs rarely need cleaning. We had one hen who insisted on doing her business in the nest boxes and that obvio

Ditto in Finland. Eggs are stored on shelves, unrefrigerated. The eggs from the chickens my wife and I raise on the farm can be stored for about 4 weeks at room temperatures. Probably more, but we usually use the eggs or trade them away lon

Dunno about the US, but in Europe, most stations have shut down, or significantly reduced their service. Sad when you live in a valley where you can't get local radio over FM, but where Middle-Eastern and Russian shortwave stations com

Communication is the key. Thermal throttling is a no-brainer for people interested in tech, but the vast majority of people still expect their new computers to outperform the previous ones vastly, even if they're switching from a power

Yep. People born in the 60's seem to have rather atrocious habits compared to the ones we have today. I remember getting Kellog's Frosties with strawberry jam for breakfast as a kid. I doubt many parents would serve that to their

Try rolling your clothes instead of folding them. It's faster, and while it's not as wrinkle free as folding, it'll do the job just nicely for t-shirts and pants.

I, like you, am quite curious about it. I've given OpenBSD a few tries and it runs quite well in a VM, but I've never managed to get it running properly with wifi. I guess it's time to give it a new go, considering there'

Is X over SSH that important? Not really. Is it handy enough for me to use it on a daily basis? Yes, without a doubt! Everyone has a different use case though. I could just as well be using RemoteApp or something along those lines.

The UK, and any other member state, is allowed to leave the EU at any time. There is, however, nothing saying that a country leaving the EU get to keep the advantages of being a member state. Thus, the previous divorce analogy was spot on.
