I do that regularly on my commute on a mixed-use trail. Half the time the pedestrian looks to their left and their feet follow. The other half have headphones on so they don't hear me anyway. I might be exaggerating a bit.

This has also been my experience. Millions of large documents on a single (beefy) node with a single user it's been fine. Although, the sysadmins had previously left me with flat file xml on shared storage so the bar was pretty low.

At least where I live the stereotypical summer jobs don't exist even if a teen was pushed to take one. Those McDs fry cook positions are now filled by former manufacturing workers making ends meet with three part time jobs.
