> Many americans like to kill and die by gunfire, and consider it their constitutional right How does this sarcastic, mocking comment contribute to any kind of rational discussion? You have no idea what you're talking about.

The taxes aren't just. The state blows trillions on wars, foreign aid, etc so I think there's a spending problem. Maybe if they could reign their spending, we could let people keep more of their money. Instead people take out loan

Income tax was supposed to be temporary. It shouldn't even apply to people making under a certain amount because they have very little disposable income. The first say 50k, probably more, is eaten up pretty quickly by expenses. That&#x

Does this bode well for when low-level (and even high-level) jobs are mostly automated and we need UBI?

I agree, except why use the word "right"? There is no such right for businesses (although bailouts are a thing...).

Then why is crypto open to so many other first world countries?

The SEC must know something many other modern, first world countries do not because when I try to use most crypto apps, it says it's unavailable for US citizens, along with places like Yemen and North Korea.

That's a good point. You definitely need family or a significant other to provide a safety net while you rebuild.

Personal. What's extreme? My friend (or me if you think I'm doing that joke) is rebuilding their credit now. They discharged a bunch of medical and credit card debt.

My friend has gone through bankruptcy twice. It was a breeze both times. Paid a court fee and had to go through a simple online course. I wish there weren't such a stigma because companies do this all the time.

You're saying that as if it's a walk in the park to set up and not cost prohibitive, in terms of opportunity cost and budget, especially for smaller companies.

I've been working with CSS for over twenty years, and Tailwind is the way forward for me. Some of the big benefits are: * No more worrying about naming class selectors. This frees up so much cognitive space. The less you have to worry

Curious about the opportunity cost here and why not adopt things like typespecs and static analysis tools like Credo and Dialyzer?

Debt isn't always bad. It's a powerful tool (leverage), and bankruptcy shouldn't have a stigma. We need people to be financially educated. We teach calculus in schools but very little on finance. Perhaps that's changed s

I think people can make the context switch. Was visiting a buddy of mine a few weeks ago and picked some up. Didn't think twice or even joke about it.

Ignore those people then. There are communities dedicated to their projects and care about the underlying tech and long-term vision. Every industry, especially those involving money, will have unsavory elements. It's human nature.

We need to start applying free speech to internet platforms as well -- an updated first amendment. Times have changed and these platforms can deny speech, effectively silencing political opposition. The people cheering it on are happy becau

So If I don't like the shoes of the person in the protected class, I can refuse service? I think there are better, more organic ways to solve this problem than forced association and labor.

I like meta comments about the business or technical decisions behind the code. You can come up with clever method and variable names to help enlighten the reader, but nothing beats an intimate, first-hand account explaining the why .

You were exploiting a bug, an egregious one, and I don't think any reasonable person would think that behavior was the intent of the service provider. In other words, "the code let me do it" isn't going to fly in court.
