What does a useful local business review site look like? Not being snarky--genuinely interested to see if there's an opportunity here.

It doesn't really matter. It's not like authoritarians in the State make principled, consistent decisions, or have rules that reflect the same. FF fleeces customers but State lotteries? Crickets. The State lottery is in the consti

Why don't we stop enumerating specific rights (which leads to picking winners and losers and inconsistent application) and refactor them into a few basic principles. Such as the basic property right of self ownership. Since you own you

So what magical system did you have in mind that would suffer none of your potential problems? Even a publicly funded service is still as vulnerable. Services you run yourself still cost money and have their unique set of problems. The cost

Capitalism ruins everything fun? Not sure I follow. There are so many amazing APIs available now, which aren't as frictionless as using Unix tools -- but why would they be? Unix tools are installed locally and don't fall under the

Homework is an abomination. It steals time a child could be spending with their parents, siblings, friends, etc. You spend all day in a classroom, sedentary, which isn't healthy to begin with, and then when you go home, you're exp

I take issue with this because was it really the sugar or were you reducing and eliminating other bad elements from your diet? Cup cakes and ice cream, for example -- it's not the sugar -- it's the high fat combined with sugar cau

Are you speaking from experience? I've found plenty of great gigs on these freelancing sites. You just have to dig a bit and know what the "crap" jobs are, so you can avoid them altogether. The world is not underbidding you.

Not true at all. High-profile startups do post jobs there. You can find good clients--it just takes some digging, negotiation, and patience.

The author gives one bad example and extrapolates that to all of freelance. I've found plenty of well-paying gigs on these sites. As with most things in life, it takes hard work and lots of failure to get there. It's really that s

You don't choose anything (apart from some semblance of choice through voting). Stop using voluntary language for something that is compulsory. This isn't an argument against gov, but your reasoning about choice is after the fact.
