If openai was building out with DDR5 that would create a big ol supply of DDR5 to make RAM cheap. No. They bought the wafers for HBM. The only thing thats going to get cheap when openai implodes are server stuff for homelab bros. The RAM ma

none of these consoles are "usable" I'm pretty into emulation. It's very misleading to claim that "modern consoles are emulatable" when no, only nintendo has emulators you can boot up, pick from a very large li

Yeah I'm one of them. Started as an on-site Linux sysadmin. Moved to cloud SRE because remote is plentiful and it pays better. I get crap recruiters in my inbox and LinkedIn every other week with the worst offers to go back to on-site

I thought about how to reply to this for a minute and then realized that I'm so desensitized by American tech companies that all the nonsense NVIDIA gets up to to maintain their economic position barely registers to me anymore.

There was another comment that pointed out how unlikely this is to happen because Amazon is just too big to bring the law down on now. When you're the, what. Second? Third? Largest employer in the US, enforcing the law now becomes a me

My point is that DRM isn’t something that FOSS has any control over, and is becoming an increasingly common strategy to discourage using third party software because it forces compromises. So when the DRM doesn’t work and you get a degraded

It sounds to me like the biggest problem are the users. There’s no shortage of meaningfully free and open software to use that will do what you need, but as soon as you have to sacrifice any sort of convenience, non techies stops listening.

The case that this is true is only if you don't have an Nvidia GPU or don't play D3D12 games. I tried it, discovered that Nvidia has a known regression that causes anywhere up to 25% lower performance compared to Windows in GPU li
