I tried this by the way, you pay in performance in a big way. Even if you don’t need hardware acceleration the general compile performance is bad, about 3X longer on a large angular project than a MacBook Air.

I’m confused about your issues... The current shell in macOS is zSh and the Mac wrote the book on window management (other than the windows snapping ideas, which, fair, but it is just one app. On the other hand, macOS is like a wonderful la

To top it off, AMD competing well with intel reduces the price of parts Apple puts in Intel Macs.

Exactly. Apple said “if you do X we will pay Y” in that sense, Apple put the money up to cover development costs.

This gets very dark when you line up the timeline for TSMC’s next processes and the idea that Apple would like to use their own (TSMC-based) chips in their computers. Intel is currently in a danger zone. If QC were to swap processes with it

Part of this is that AMD is using TSMC’s ‘7nm’ process, which is comparable to intel’s delayed 10nm. Development of that process was funded by Apple (as they use it for the A12/A13). So the pairing of AMD and Apple can out spend and ou

I think they mean in the US (which obviously is not the whole world) Here in the US the iPhone is more than 50% market share (likely much higher, if you were to count hours of use rather than just raw devices. Many mid-range android users o

Not sure if this helps but Apple is supposed to offer a new 16 inch model with the old style switches early next year, the latest Catalina beta leaked its thicker design and escape key.

Straightforward they have no interest in losing control of the software running. I think the idea is that the product will continue to work even after smartphones. Also they were a bit miffed with Apple a while back. But yeah no nothing to

What is funny about this is that Atlasssian’s Jira product is designed for two week “sprints”, a term referring to the idea of running quickly at a rate above a sustainable pace with no intent to keep running after the end. But these sprint

Browserstack.com Also 50% of the US mobile browser market. (Don’t forget iPhone and iPad.) This is a bs excuse. The only really hard one to test with is IE11, simply because the dev tools are so incredibly slow on a web app.

Another factor is if they eventually move to their ARM chips in Macs they need to deal with the fact that The Ax CPUs lack 32Bit support and are 64Bit only.

This. Apple killed 32Bit arm in the A11 and as a result gained extra space on the chip for more cores and the Neural Processing module. It’s highly expected that they will eventual build ARM Macs and that can’t happen if 32Bit software is c

In fairness, they are in a much better situation. They could swap to AMD with no real arch changes but I imagine they also would prefer their own CPUs. The fact of the matter is that these CPUs are built on the same exact process as the A12
