Isn't chalking LGBT as "tolerant" and feminism as "intolerant" (whatever these labels mean) yet another example of the us/them duality?

Check out https://80000hours.org/career-guide/start-here/ that has a good guide on careers and how you can "do good". Sometimes it is through having a social impact outright, sometimes it is by earning t

Say Conscientiousness is about being organized and dependable. Would you say that higher social strata exhibit these characteristics, more so than in the lower echelons, even in UK?

Big Five personality traits have a decent association with social class (1). I think what the map is showing is that the social class split is uneven in Britain. Positive association with higher social class: Extraversion, Opennes and espec

I like the ideas coming out of the Winter Cities concept. However, coming from Europe and on the topic of transportation, I'd rather see money spent on a wider rail network, live bus tracking or just actual pavements...

Huh, I guess maybe it only applies to British, Canadians and Kiwis? I have a friend who consciously does not want to talk about taboo topics because then she could find out her friends are assholes...

In terms of cultural comparison, I find that the Anglo-Saxon culture is more about making friends, not discussing iffy topics etc. While as Czechs we will totally argue. Maybe that's where the gloomy/smiley split comes from.

I don't see it as a wrong . Just a lot of programmers have a personality type that sees us planning and optimizing everything, making it into systems and disregarding rules of social interaction to some or greater extent. You need peo

In Marty: since you attach a Store to a React via a Mixin that looks for a singleton, can you have a dynamic number of stores when you have a dynamic number of React components of the same type?

In production you would bundle all into one file, while in development most/all of your files will be cached by the browser. But to be honest I've never worked with 500+ in the browser.

I feel like since people in UK pride themselves on living in a house and not an apartment building, you end up with a similar segregation like in US along social strata. I grew up in a concrete panel building in then Czechoslovakia and sinc
