The military isn't a borg collective, it is full of people trying to get their way, climb the ladder, make money, etc. Those motivations produce behavior counter to what the command structure 'wants'.

This thread is discussing the astronomical costs you would expect from robot-assisted quarantine procedures for infectious disease. That would be a case where the max out of pocket is what is relevant to consider.

Why does it need to be without human intervention? A gas station attendant on major trucking routes is a pretty easy solution until some autonomous docking standard is developed.

I feel like you're missing what 'shot on iPhone' is trying to convey. The point of the campaign is that the iPhone camera is good enough to be used in a professional shoot, not that it automatically makes high production-valu

It's not going to show up in everyone's feed if you pay either. You're just talking degrees of exposure. Getting to 100% of eyeballs vs. 80% or 10% is arbitrary.

Not sure how widely this is known, and thus how much it impacted stock prices, but the unintended acceleration panic was not a real mechanical issue, and thus Toyota was not at fault [1]. The 737 Max is/was a real problem and is/w

This is one of my favorite non-fiction stories. The BBC movie starring Kenneth Brannaugh isn't bad. There were rumors of a Tom Hardy-led movie a couple years ago, but haven't seen any updates since.

Can you point to some of this evidence, for the uninformed? Especially on "giving kids screens helps them learn, and as we see in the real world, the exact opposite is what is happening."
