Looks like a stop gap for Java 8 (the static portion that is). Please Oracle let me have my closures sooner so the .NET programmers will stop making fun of us :)

IMHO Things are already getting simpler (or I should say external API complexity is slowing down). There are couple of reasons why I think APIs are getting simpler: * Services, Services, Services (RESTful services) * Greater Automated Test

Yeah sure you can keep layering till you get 47 different layers (some in parallel).... aka "X Windows" Layering does come at a cost. Speed and various hacks that have to reach below the layer. Partly because of X Windows Linux still has on

Focus is why apps (or mobile sites) are better. You have less real-estate so you have to focus on delivering what matters. Less is more!

Totally agree. And it isn't amazing at all that higher education parents breed higher education children. I went to high school a town over from Lexington (Wellesley) and I will say everyone's parents are hi-end professionals or Ph.D.'s (ac

And before that it was Pascal.... I know cause I tried to take it after teaching myself Pascal a day before the exam (I new C/C++). I got so caught up in the stupid syntax of the language that think I got a 2 or 3 :(

I saw way crazier feats of room engineering at GaTech fraternities. I even remember a funnel like apparatus to a toliet so that people in the loft did not have to climb down to take a leak. It was rather gross.

I was just joking. It wasn't meant to be a personal attack. Hey its just my opinion that engineering is an easier problem than other business activities. Programming is more predictable. You can fix bad programmers. Just a curious question.

I knew I was going to get downvoted to oblivion for that comment. But I still firmly believe it. People are much harder to deal with. Much more dynamic. I'm confident the computer would not have downvoted me :) BTW you apparently have a gaz

Oh yes I agree an off board DAC is better. I own the Fiio E7 which I highly recommend for laptops and only costs $80.00. In fact I run a 50 foot USB cable from my laptop to my DAC and the improvement is much better than running a 50 foot 3.

I know this is slightly tangential but are hi-end DACs really worth it? I have always been amazed how much audiophile DACs cost ($300-1000). The reality is I listen to 320kbps music that was most likely recorded at 44100. DAC technology is
