I'm on mobile and not a physicist but the key is the observer. Photons don't observe anything. We observe them since we observe time and they do have energy changes that we observe (I believe this is how colors and red shift wor

In the same boat. I tried Druid as well which was almost a better solution but lacked the flexibility and maturity. We are using Postgres + citus + some HLL. Our success is probably because we just have a lot more experience with Postgres.

I have seen several modes like nxml that are fairly slow. Perhaps it is the implementation of those modes but editing XML in Eclipse is faster particularly far large files (and eclipse is a pig). I'm fairly certain folks always would p

I agree SQL is not perfect but I don't know of many examples of alternative languages (that are not completely proprietary). It honestly would be helpful to see some alternatives that you think are actually good (as the ones I have see

I was told that part of the problem on a new glass bottle of ketchup is the surface tension at the top. So if you break the top layer with a knife or whatever the ketchup will suddenly start coming out. However I never looked up if it was t

I mostly agree with you the exception of SQL. I actually think SQL is a fairly good language for what it does and the alternatives have been fairly crappy (at the minimum it should not be lumped in with Javascript). If there is a Rust of SQ

I wonder if part of the problem is democracy is rather ill defined. I'm sure you have seen the classic case where some one says the United States is not a democracy but a republic... usually its a troll comment. Regardless I think ther

In college (over 10 years ago) I used to think C was very viable. Sure it took longer to develop but the reward was fast execution and generally KISS like code (just an anecdotal observation I have of C is the tedium to write complex things

On Joe Duffy's profile there is what I thought to be a hexadecimal: 284d69f1cb I tried converting it to ascii and decimal and nothing interesting came out. Anyone know what that is? Maybe a key signature?

I would like to share some thoughts on this based on experience of being a crusty old enterprise developer. The dashboard problem keeps coming back. I think the time might be finally coming for some dashboard framework to actually succeed.
