I let Firefox upgrade itself when .75 was and after a restart, I didn't notice a single ux change. What on earth are you people talking about?

The need for documentation for a library is not linked to the amount of code it has. In fact, it’s rather sad that the programmer didn’t bother to document such a small thing. It most certainly wouldn’t have been a big task.

Nim is older than Kotlin, so your question is kinda backwards. But also: 1. no JVM (Kotlin Native isn’t considered a stable thing, or is it?), 2. subjectively nicer language, 3. An optional non-GC runtime upcoming (already in there as beta)

When the workers lose their jobs, a portion of them will start new businesses, and some of them will succeed, creating the next uptrend. That is, unless they're starving and homeless. The absolutely worst mistake to do is to pay suppor

Hashicorp tools are quite solid, and give you a lot for free. Ansible can automate host-level changes in places where hashicorp cannot reach. There shouldn't be many such places. Alternatively, if you have the option of choosing the wh

The Rust channels on Matrix and oftc irc are really helpful as well :) For drills, I recommend exercism.io in practice mode (mentor/student ratio is pretty bad). After working on your own solution for a while, then checking how the oth

How did you manage to read what I wrote to mean I was blaming Trump for COVID-19? I am blaming him for taking Obama's legacy of stability and growth and destroying it for short-term profit. It would be a tragedy if he did not have to

I felt slight nausea and unexplainable deep irritation at reading this. Scala is a disgusting mess compared to Rust in just about every way I can think of. Please for the love of everything good, consider at least Kotlin.

Sure, but the effects of coffee against the digestive system are entirely different from tea. That supposedly has some psychological effects.

Someone oughta research the differences between coffee and other caffeinated drinks. My experience says that there are huge differences there.

Having an industry veteran like Itamar weigh on a pointless complexity that everyone seems to be in love with right now? Extremely valuable. Possibly saves peoples' lives, financially speaking. Old IT folks are like explosives experts:

Socialism does not mean that your standard of living is maintained if you lose your job. It mostly just means that you don't starve or that you don't have to live on the streets.

Also, go is an elitist language as well, in its own way. Its creators and many of the first proponets were big Unix/C/Bell Labs names. Quite opinionated people.

I agree that calling a very successful language "garbage" is a childish move. I also think that we shouldn't tie our egos to the tools we are using. Nothing good arises from that.

You're comparing a software that runs locally to a service that runs mostly through the network. A fairer comparison to vscode would be emacs. Suboptimal code might have something to do with it as well, though.
