Yeah if anything all ChatGPT is doing is highlighting that a lot more noise-work can be automated. "Make my random thoughts sound business-y", "double check this code doesn't have anything completely stupid" etc.

Is this just affecting US workers?

Agreed, nothing to see here. I’d be happy to see more on-prem but my suspicion is companies are looking to cost-optimise their cloud infrastructure or negotiate better contracts, rather than a serious amount of industry movement to on-prem.

My work laptop is an M1 Macbook, if I could, I would happily move to my personal Thinkpad x230 running Kubuntu.

Sure but ChatGPT is useful right now in a way Blockchain never was. It feels more akin to Napster or the original iPhone. Useful right now and if it didn’t progress in anyway it’d still be a solid product. The scary/exciting bit is not

Ah yeah, I can see that. Admittedly I assumed based on the title of this post the person debating represented Fdroid, so perhaps it should be updated to reflect this?

I feel like the pro-FOSS commenters position is clear and reasoning well articulated. If the developer doesn’t want to comply then fine, at least it’s nice to see the this debate unlike the black box of typical app stores. Edit: It’s the fd

Smacks of dropping the ball and not being first mover and trying to damage control. All big orgs eventually become the slow mover, it's re-assuring that Google is in the same boat and nothing really changes.

Still use an iPod 5th gen daily. I would happily use Rockbox but it's lacking any Podcast support which I need, but you're definitely not alone!

Couldn't agree more. I'm not sure how @dang and crew manage it but to continue to be a place of connection on the internet I don't loathe genuinely is a huge testament and I'm very grateful this community exists.

I find RSS has the same problem as to do lists for me. It all gets too much and I dump it. Another inbox to manage where it's a roll of the dice if I get any value or find anything interesting. Certainly beats other news sources but I

Yeah if we’re going down the Fascism route(and particularly military Fascism), look at Starship Troopers, another Paul Verhoeven classic.

Just a heads up, with umatrix no longer being developed, you can actually enable the same functionality in unlock origin.

I don’t agree with all these comments saying fire people or quit or whatever. These days I try give people the opportunity to develop, give honest feedback and if the results aren’t happening then reconsider things. Is there anyone else in

Honestly I suspect that’s how the majority “use vim” these days. When I’m on the command line it’s a great lightweight editor, but trying to turn it into an IDE competitor is when the wheels start falling off fairly quickly.

What nonsense, so are we expected to ask how many friends you have IRL to gauge someone’s ability at synchronous communication? I can communicate remotely in a business setting (and have done) for many years. I don’t make friends online bec

I had the exact same attempt, but it turns out remembering a bunch of keyboard shortcuts to do anything is really hard and frustrating. I use Vim as an editor. I thing there’s just a limit to what I can reasonably use day to day that requir
