You're right, they aren't mind games, I wasn't particularly happy about that formulation myself. Better would be maybe psychological conundrums? Or thought experiments on consciousness and the mind?

Total Recall has it all: The rather bloody action and shooting, the gimmicks (digital nail polish! Live X-ray scanners!), abstruse ideas and images (Kuato lives!), Arnie delivering zingers with an Austrian accent. And then, once you grow up

Looking at the documentation, straight.el took a lot of dedicated work, thanks a lot! Will definitely give it a spin later, which should be rather easy thanks to use-package integration.

I am in awe of the completeness and entertainment factor of this thing; you have to admire the dedication that went into bringing it to such a level. Probably the most entertaining thing I've ever seen done with computer hardware.

Had to google it again myself, they called it Grundeinkommensjahr ( https://www.deutschlandfunknova.de/beitrag/lars-klingbeil-gr... ) and the pay was much less than I remembered; it's 1000 bucks per month plus socia

Absolutely, the best thing I ever did. In Germany, the social democrats had a plan to pay people a large chunk of their salary for a year so that they can take a sabbatical after working a number of years (8 or 10, I'm not sure). Of co

There is a very mid-20th-century idea that work, as in going to a certain place, doing something mildly productive for 8 hours, and getting money at the end of the month, is a good thing, and although this is practically dead, the idea is s

Just kidding, I'm not changing the way I call the country, only maybe as a joke. What the Erdogan foreign ministry is doing is a silly diversion from the general shitshow, not even Turks themselves (or a large majority of them) take th

Am I supposed to tell people I'm from Türkiye from now on? Will be fun explaining to them it's not a silly joke, but the new official name of the country. Although you know what, it might lead to some good party banter.

That's a good question, I think only this class would need to be reimplemented for podman: https://github.com/afroisalreadyinu/miniboss/blob/main/minib... . The question is of course whether there a

I would say it's more similar to Pulumi, as the main aim is to avoid markup (or a simplified programming language, like HCL in the case of terraform). The other two are correct though: Only for Docker and in Python.

I have no idea what kompose convert does, honestly. Principally, one could print out any format from miniboss, but it depends on how much you want to trust a tool written for local deployments with kubernetes stuff.

I have no idea, as I'm a bit lost when it comes to Kubernetes tooling. When I wrote a Kubernetes tutorial ( https://okigiveup.net/tutorials/a-tutorial-introduction-to-k... ) nearly four years ago, you had kubectl an

Aha, I get it. I never thought about the attributes of a service definition getting modified, but you're right, it might happen. I'll try to figure out whether using immutable data structures for attributes would work out.

These are exactly the kinds of issues that drove me to work on miniboss. My top grievance has been the "waiting for service available" issue, which is generally solved by wrapping the dependent code in a `wait-for-it.sh` bash scri

Good point. I was thinking of adding `docker-compose` compatibility, so that you can use a `docker-compose.yml` file to define services, and then add event hooks etc. with decorators, or something similar. You would then also have access to

I actually dug around in the source code of docker-compose to figure out how to properly work with networks. However the fundamental ideas of the two projects are different (yaml -> containers vs. Python code -> containers), so starti

This is actually a great point. I would guess that once the pressure is off, you can work more creatively and elaborately , taking the time to understand what is puzzling for you or above your level. Which in turn makes you more eager to w

Isn't this a tad exaggerated, jumping from the change in the pronunciation of one letter, to native speakers being the worst ? I think you need considerably more proof than that.

There is the mentioned dropping of Postgres support. Postgres is much more popular than MySQL in open source circles, which makes me wonder why go with the latter. Sqlite is still supported, which makes this even more strange. Also, Ghost u

What really amazes me is that there isn't a similar blogging platform that is open source, easy to deploy and at least a little visually pleasing. I'm a developer, so I could use a static site generator, but I would like to deploy

This is bad. I spent a lot of time and effort getting non-techie friends to switch from whatsapp, and now what is supposed to be the best alternative is having a massive downtime. I think I'll just give up.
