Wikidata, both the software and the platform generally, is definitely developed at Wikimedia Deutschland. I’ve met a few of the people involved. https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMDE

Yes staying true to the rhetoric about 'making the world a better place' does preclude certain future states. But that rhetoric can be true, actionable, and not incompatible with profit. Just saying here's an anecdatum abou

It's surely not that bleak (at least, not everywhere). And it doesn't have to be remotely about 'politics'. My old employer made the leap to employee-owned and they seem to be going from strength to strength. https:

Isn’t it just as likely that the software developers disempower the support staff as much as they do users? Maybe the agent did think that the reply would reach them, and the algorithm was being AB tested.

I have two BlackBerry phones in a drawer with perfectly good hardware that I reluctantly stopped using because of software issues (Passport and KeyOne). PostmarketOS isn't relevant for these specificaly, but to your point, the hardware

I do wish posts like this had absolute numbers (or did I miss some?). Is this a monolith served by a team of 5, 15 or 50?

I guess that comes at the significant penalty of lower bit rate. Still, it does sound warmer. (Seriously, I wonder what the rate would be?)

Looks interesting. From that page I couldn't see what 'graph' field relates to. Is it the identifier for a distinct named graph? It was blank in the examples. Do you use it? What for?

How do you scale out processing if you can't have more than one consumer?

If you're the kind of person who wants "open data" (read as broadly as you like) and could get it in snapshots direct from the source without having to scrape, what would your ideal format be? I know it's a very open end

Apart from everything else, isn’t this more complex machinery that you didn’t buy but have to service, just in case you might want it one day?

I feel like the point you’re making has never been less true. Dialog boxes with “not yet” rather that “no” are ever more popular. I don’t think that the modern UX designer has much respect for me or my intentions.

I'm in a similar space (bibliographic metadata, DOIs etc) but not too familiar with this area. Did the desire for interlinkedness go away? What in particular changed? Was an authority file seen as a replacement for a more organic RDF m
