To me I guess it suggests that these models are not using the correct approach. We keep finding new types of tasks the models are bad at, then the next model fixes those issues because those specific tasks are added to the training set. But

Another model I've seen for copyright is that you declare a "buyout price" for the copyright, the price at which you will release the work into the public domain. You pay 1% of that price every year as a renewal fee, with a 1

I work in Arizona, and some of our software calls APIs on a server hosted in California. The California server expects timestamps in requests to be in Pacific time, with no timezone in the timestamp, and expects them to conform to daylight

Language is only one projection of reality into fewer dimensions, and there's a lot it can't capture. Similar to how a photograph or painting has to flatten 3D space into a 2D representation, so a lot is lost. I think trying to

The "Zones of Thought" series explored this. It was well-understood that societies could easily collapse and would need to start over from scratch repeatedly, particularly in the slow zones of the galaxy where advanced AI and FTL

Yeah, I've seen stuff like that in my role as a system integrator. We've built all these automated processes for transforming and moving data from system A to system B, but occasionally we learn about other teams who are using exc
