- PRQL is focused on analytical queries and it does not support DML (yet at least, see https://github.com/PRQL/prql/issues/1092 ). Thus there is no UPDATE or "upsert" - What is merge? How is it diffe

So something like a language server, but connected to a database and able to execute queries? That's an interesting idea. While working on the compiler, I try to separate different components so things like this are possible. Currently

https://prql-lang.org/book/examples/employees.html The goal is for compiler to be smart about what SQL constructs are used. We want to lift at least some burden of regard for performance from user and pass it to t

String queries? What do you mean? Producing SQL serialized as strings? You can go around that and use RQ representation - but not db supports it yet.

That's true - the package is auto-generated using [wasmpak]( https://github.com/rustwasm/wasm-pack ), that's why TypeScript definitions are clunky. I did the initial prql-js release and I'm actually not su

I'm not sure if this is a joke, be we actually had a serious an idea to replace side:left/right with nulls_left:true and nulls_right:true This part of the join operation should be an after thought - just a flag after the central a

Interesting suggestion. We added f-strings because we already had s-strings (pass trough to SQL) and r-strings (for raw multi-line text). And would you rather see "My {name}" or "My ${name}"? I personally dislike the $ p

If you only want maximum of one column, the PRQL is quite simple: from my_table group column_a ( aggregate (max column_b) ) If you want the row with the maximum value it gets interesting: from my_table group

Hello another contributor here! Compilation does have to be stateless (for performance reasons), but we are planning to add some kind of schema definitions which could also specify foreign keys. So joins without conditions would be possible

As said, currently PRQL transpiles to SQL, so all expressions in PRQL are can be expressed in SQL. But not all SQL expression can be translated back into PRQL - some intentionally and some are just not yet implemented (UNION - i.e. vertical

Well, it's not portable, but you don't have to learn a new language every time you encounter a new DBMS (unlike MongoDB or InfluxDB).

If anyone is interested in improvements to SQL, checkout PRQL https://github.com/prql/prql , a pipelined relational query language. It supports: - functions, - using an alias in same `select` that defined it, - trailing
