That's a lot more reasonable, thanks. I've been trying various approaches to this problem myself but haven't converged on the best cross platform solution yet: * http://www.aerique.net/software/etotp/ (needs a nice index page) * http://g

Depends on the project. For most of them you wouldn't need to build an executable.

I'd rephrase it and say: "You can be much more productive with mature tools.". Which Emacs and vi, ofcourse, are.

Not only that, once they finally get it right it'll get phased out for their latest framework so you can keep on paying the Microsoft tax. My biggest beef with them is that they chose to make money not through technical excellence but usu

I'm totally zen, or Neutral Neutral if you will, and not attached to anything. Not even Common Lisp, Emacs and Linux... nope. Seriously, there's a disproportionate amount of irrational pro-Apple and -Microsoft posts here on HN that get upv

Sometimes the same articles get much better comments on Reddit than they do on HN. Also, for some reason, the Apple and Microsoft fanboys don't seem to be as rife there, or at least they're properly downvoted.

Not just coincidence. I've bought quite a lot of indie games the last few years but Minecraft is one of the few I recommend, no, urge my friends to buy. It's genuine fun, different and has QWAN.

Agreed, that was awful. It's as if the answers had been rewritten by a committee of marketroids in some lame attempt to connect with the audience. I recently ended up on some Microsoft guy's blog that was also in this style. Apart from th

Yes, I found that option. That part of Chrome is just not as mature as NoScript and Chrome doesn't offer me enough in other respects to ignore it.

I recently switched back to Firefox from a two week test drive of Chrome, reasons: * I don't like how the display of a lot of tabs are handled (dozens of really small unreadable tabs) * No NoScript (found one extension that didn't work very

We generally use Unix as our IDE, yes, but it doesn't involve a lot of typing. Emacs users can also do everything from within Emacs.
