It's not quite the same but since Emacs is primarily an OS it has window managements build in, so by running it fullscreen and making a bunch of horizontal and vertical splits you get pretty close to i3[1] as well. The only problem is

Nice, but some minor quibbles: 1. The site doesn't load at all when NoScript is active, 2. Once NoScript is deactivated and search results are displayed the middle mouse button to open something in a new tab doesn't work, 3. It us

How does it compare to i3? After evaluating quite some tiling window managers i3 ended up as my favourite. However I can't recall evaluating Ion3.

I think serious Linux users going for mouse-free and / or using tiling window managers designate one of the Windows / menu / command / Apple keys as "window manager" key as well. It's nice though that MS m

If you write Lisp every day why not remap the ( and ) to a non-shifted position? I use the [ and ] keys but I use Common Lisp, not Clojure.

The USB story seems similar to software like systemd and PulseAudio. As a software guy I like the simplicity USB has brought me as a user but I dread the complexity of systemd and PulseAudio.

People have been pointing out the problems with snooping, surveillance and the effect of technology for decades now. It is not something people can say that it just snuck up to them. They either did not care or called people pointing the in

It's hard to say whether it is worth it. Is there anything you're missing from Vim + Tmux? The best thing would be to just check it out if you're ever in a playful mood but the chance is pretty big that just playing around w

One of the nice things about Linux desktops is that you're not tied to the default window manager like you are in Windows and OSX. While Linux distros might have a default window manager (like your Unity example for Ubuntu) it is stil

Yes, this is also correct. In most (if not all) Lisps the generic structure is "(operator [arg1] [arg2] [...] [argn])".

While it's useful to learn proper debugging sometime your approach is valid as well. By the looks of it you're using the optimal solution to your problem. I prefer to code in Common Lisp on the REPL and do the same thing as you mo

Ugh, please let Common Lisp be. There's enough bondage & discipline languages already so it is nice to have CL on the opposite side of the spectrum.

It isn't. Common Lisp and Scheme can do this as well and I like the look of predicate functions like "list?" or "number?": (list? object) (number? 1) => returns true (number? "abc") =>

I think the main problem isn't the quality of the system of measurement used by the US, but more that it is one of only three countries still not using the metric system. The world would be an easier place without that headache.
