Do you really want to write code on your phone? If you do, wouldn't you rather just shell into your server and use vim? It would probably be better UI and more responsive than using a graphical web-based editor on the tiny screen, no?

First of all, you didn't _waste_ four years. You learned a ton of things in that time, and while you may not have enjoyed it, the knowledge and skills gained are now a part of your being. You never know where things that you learned will co

Does anyone else find it odd that they "strongly recommend that you log on and change your password" instead of just force-resetting everyone's password and sending them an email with an activation link? Out of 60M subscribers, I'm certain

I like it. The main tool has nice UI and looks clean, but the surroundings are a bit distracting. Get rid of the extra clutter, throw it up on a stand-alone domain with nicer chrome, and it'll be at top of HN in a few minutes :)

Popularity != proof of goodness. I never said it was the greatest language ever. I'll take Ruby or Lisp over PHP any day. I was simply saying that the OP's post is framed as if PHP was generally considered a useless newbie language, and t

Their setup doesn't seem extra-ordinary in any great way, and reads more like a justification against a strawman argument. The author sets up with "PHP is regarded as a clumsy and amateurish technology, best left to development newbies". I

I know about rerere, this is about taking the guesswork out of that initial resolution and making it more logical, especially when merging someone else's code.

Like I said, 10 programmers that do actual work. Even if you double that to 20 and add sysadmins, project lead, QA engineer and UX/designer, you still won't have more than 30 people, which is bigger than many startups' dev teams that build

So, let's say a wildly over-staffed (for this kind of project) team of 10 programmers for a year, on an average salary of $120K. That's still only 1.2M. Let's say another 800K on hardware. Does that mean the other 38M went to corporate, man
