Exactly this. And whats more, the idea of device attestation makes people trust those devices, and the history of rooting consoles and phones proves that nothing holds, even tech backed by billions in commercial interest. The whole point in

Fingers crossed for the judiciary - if the implementers ignore the intention of the law, then lawyers will have to help them understand the limits of corner cutting - and block this.

Step by step. We realize we will not get there in one day. Its the same as with bicycle paths. Initially - those make no sense, leading from nowhere to nowhere. Give it a few years, and a usable network emerges. Right now there is serious m

If this was a gym subscription, it would be an equivalent of some people going to the gym, and some people sending their android to the gym every day, for the whole day, and using as much equipment as the gym policy allows.

Dunno, maybe there is a bug. I was both a subscriber, and had the extra usage enabled, and paid for extra usage before, and didn't get the extra credits. I am on the max plan, so was rather looking forward to the extra $100 to burn on

I was wondering about this for a while now. My main home office has 5 monitors, and i still have to swipe between desktops regularly. I used to have 6, but two ultrawides stacked one above the other was a bit painful and I developed a back

Easy. That is the only social media site that is so comically bad, that it does not trigger me in any way with the feed. I am using it as a way to reach out to colleagues from the past - a bit like facebook circa 10 years ago. I can't

I am old enough to remember the outages of aws, gcp and azure which predate the gen ai thing. And of course the countless, endless, hopeless procession of bugs in just about anything else. I am running it in a large mid cap company (~25bn r

It's a leadership failure. They obviously have a UI/UX dept. Those people want to be considered productive. Hence, they need to force a major redesign every now and then. Without a Steve Jobs like leader, those things will happen

And the 2nd level consequence of that levelling the playing field would be more competition, and fewer huge, powerful gambling companies. Fewer, huge companies have the money and skills to buy politicians (exhibit one: "prediction mark

This. And same for phones, tvs, operating systems. I bought a perfectly fine macbook pro m1 in 2020. It has been made far, far worse, slower, bloated and less responsive by apple. I see nothing improved, everything significantly degraded. I

I look at people who use fb or tiktok, or x, the same way I look at smokers or alcoholics. With sadness and pity. The fact that we let children use this is hard to accept. The fact that fellow hackers and engineers, some of the brightest mi

The interesting part about vibe coding is the spectrum of experiences and attitudes. I have been playing with it for 2-3hrs a day for the last 4 months now. None of my friends who are using it are using it in the same way. Some people vibe

I find it hard to understand that people consider $200 p/m a lot for what they are getting. Expensive compared to what? A netflix sub? A 1hr of a senior dev is at least $100, depending where one lives. Since Claude saves me hours every

Same. First time in 2 months that I found it easier to fix the bugs it created manually, rather than get it to fix. Its google-code-CLI-on-gemini-2.5 level bad for me today. Meaning, almost comically bad.

Sample of one and all that, but it's way, way more sloppy than it used to be for me. To the extent, that I have started making manual fixes in the code - I haven't had to stoop to this in 2 months. Max subscription, 100k LOC codeb
