Windy does allow switching between different models, which can be helpful to roughly gauge probability. Definitely not perfect though. And some of the models are consistently inaccurate for specific locations in certain conditions in my exp

windy.com is great for forecasts, but you have to be careful of the model used for certain sports. (For example, the NAM model can be more accurate for low wind gusts.) In my spare time over the last couple weeks I've been building a P

My bet is the problem is related to the USB transfer. I've read about similar problems migrating data to Synology via USB. Don't remember where I read that, though...

Is Tempe/Phoenix any good for getting around without a car? All I know about is the sprawl and hostile road design.

In my opinion, there should be pay cuts to continue coming to the office with a 2 hour commute by car. Google's proposal incentivizes the wrong thing.

At least this is a public project. In the United States, we have no problem using eminent domain to tear down homes for private business interests (read: Foxconn in Wisconsin [1]). [1] https://www.theguardian.com/us-news

The picture in the article is of a protected two way bike path. If the robot was in the car lane here, a driver could not pass in the bike path. I could envision problems with unprotected bike lanes, but those are dangerous by design [1]. H

In my opinion, these robots should just drive in the street with cars. If they get run over, nobody gets hurt. It might actually make things safer by forcing drivers to pay more attention!

As you point out, you cannot buy a new car today (in the US) without a wide array of safety features for occupants. Why isn't the same true for pedestrians and bicyclists?

I disagree. There's no technical reason SUV and pickup truck front bumper design is so dangerous. People just prefer that design because it looks more appealing. "When a car strikes a cyclist, the initial impact causes severe lowe

Safety... for whom? Occupants, yes. But for pedestrians, bicyclists and other vulnerable road users, it's gotten worse with the trend for larger vehicles [1][2][3] in the last decade. [1] https://www.iihs.org/news/
