Companies monitor and log network traffic. Usually looking for inappropriate content, sometimes other things (like which employees are looking at job sites).

Fucking awesome. Agree with others that more pictures would be very welcome, particularly the hinged wall and ramps setup. Crazy stuff.

I have learned to control anxiety, and even fear, by simply pushing it from the chest down into the belly where it gets consumed. This was the phrasing someone used that I picked it up from, and it feels just like that. What I believe is re

It seems you solved the problem, but for the next time: You can add a U.S. address in your Amazon account (any random address will do) and set it as the primary address. Then buy the book, and right after switch the account back to your rea

I think it straddles a fine line. Some things are so important that it is worth it to get the HN community's take on it. Is Donald Trump one of those things? I tend to think not. I guess the fact that this was posted by Jeff Atwood tip

You know what a lot of people consider worse than Donald Trump? The status quo. That's what I feel is missing in all this indignation - where were you before? The political system has been deeply broken for decades, with the same unjus

True, though even "totally-by-the-book", Islam allows the consumption of alcohol for non-Muslims. This is why alcohol is usually available at hotels, even in Saudi Arabia.

It is possible shrinking PCs/all-in-ones will make a difference in this. A nicely designed all-in-one PC is a lot more palatable and manageable to the average person than the old tower/cables/monitor/speakers/etc.

My Seiko Kinetic is going on 15 years without a single charge and will probably do fine for many years to come. Also, I can just look at it to tell the time, no need to turn it on first!

The company could have shut down, and he would have gotten nothing. Would he have felt cheated then? Instead they sold a part of the company (out of everybody's share) and with the money that brought in, they eventually succeeded. I do

But the dilution happened because your company had to sell out a lot more of its equity in order to succeed. You were not cheated. You could argue that you should have been offered to buy into the additional financing rounds in order to ret
