I think it just became irrelevant at some point. Every decent Lisp editor since the 80's will automatically match parens for you, so I don't even notice them anymore, unless I specifically need to do something special with them.

Perhaps. But speaking as a person from a physics background, a difference you can't quantify is a difference that may as well not exist... I went back and checked the Medium website with a handful of different typefaces on the body te

Not to mention that when you find one particular solution that works (eg. 6 chicken breasts a day), it gets very boring, very quickly. Although I doubt that drinking Soylent everyday is going to help with the boredom!

Yes very good point. Particularly with tablets, the use-case they are frequently replacing is that of an old-fashioned print magazine. I did just test turning off webfonts on Medium and I still honestly can't see any huge problem with

Interesting read, but I still think that people spend faaaaaaaar too much time thinking about typefaces. I just don't think they make as much of an impact on the page as people think they do. At first glance, I thought the "elite

Yes very true; I remember hearing once (I don't know how true this bit is), that Samsung Group alone make up around 20% of the South Korean economy... It may just be me, but I do detect a slight slowing down of Apple's supply chai

I believe you're thinking a bit too US centric if you assume that regulations are there to keep out people of colour... I questioned your premise that cities were "designed" to be expensive, whereas I believe they merely &quo

On the contrary. Historically, cities are designed to be cheap and high density. The expensive part comes when people expect the same housing standards/square footage as they would get in the country. Whilst I've never seen San

I think it's partly to do with the extreme flexibility of the language. When you have a large team programming in Java, you pretty much know that they're all going to be programming in roughly the same style. eg. They'll obv

Interesting to know, thanks. My example was probably a bit too hastily made-up. So I guess in summary, it's not so much about investor time and attention but mostly about managing the risks of the different sectors. Consumer startups

I don't know the ins and outs of InnoDB, but some databases match the physical order to the primary key order. Therefore this would probably make sense in that case.

Losing the ability to identify or losing the desire? When you get down to it, if you have a $50m fund, you might want to invest in ~10 A-rounds at ~$5m each. If you have a $1.5bn fund however, do you really want to invest in 300 A-rounds?

Two answers that I can think of at first glance: 1) A large proportion of the games that I own for Linux are developed using the Unity engine. This has many advantages for an indie developer (ease of use, cheap license), but is especially
