Since you're evaluating Keycloak, I'd recommend checking out Ory and SuperTokens.io as well (I am the cofounder of the latter)

See my comment here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26859182 SuperTokens is open source auth that is free and easy to setup. Our frontend UI is also far easier to customize

Firebase is great. Check out SuperTokens.io too. We provide open source authentication as an alternative to SaaS provides such as Auth0 and Keycloak. Its free, writes to your own database (so you own your own data) and is built to be dead s

> "Would you consider this way of explaining it as correct.." Yes, that is correct. Ideally, for the most secure setup, you should use the authorization code grant flow - which would involve your backend gaining access to Okta

Hey, We're the authors of the dzone article amongst others that you can find on our blog (supertokens.io/blog) on similar topics. The reason Okta, Auth0 use OAuth 2.0 is because they are considered 3rd parties to your own backend.

What do you think about Supertokens.io? Granted its not as mature but its open source, easy to implement (decouples features based on your use case), really customizable frontend UI and great support (ping me anytime!)

Have you seen SuperTokens.io? Its open source authentication. Maybe not as mature as Amazon, Google and Okta but we'll get there!

Cheald, SuperTokens isnt as mature as Keycloak but we make up for it in other ways (ease of implementation, frontend UI, hosted offering, docs and support). Would appreciate your consideration!
