For workshops like this, you should consider using Diggle (diggle.com/trial). We're still in beta, but this is the type of thing we use it for.

The tipping point for me was memorizing "A complete guide to flexbox" from the site "CSS Tricks" by using flash cards (Anki). The problems with CSS are: - A lot of features have been abused before there were good layout

The problem is that a higher teacher:student ratio may be necessary and younger students can't neccessarily travel as far. (Some parents don't have cars, sparsely populated areas, etc.) For cities I think this is a no-brainer howe

Don't disagree, but for React users onClick={this.doStuff.bind(this)} is pretty common for newbies who just read it somewhere and don't know of the perf implications of bind. But personally I prefer prototypal inheritance and the

I would like optional typing for the few places where it would be very useful. But people would enforce all types way too much, so I'm kind of on the fence.

The only way to do this without creating a hierarchy would be to group people in individual subjects. That would however be a logistics nightmare. .. Unless we embrace the real revolution: computer based learning at your own pace with teach

It does not matter. Are your tests preventing defects? Is it possible to run new or affected tests quickly? Are your tests reasonably easy to maintain? When I am testing an application that is basically a layer between my app and a database

Is there any research that catogorizes how different foods impact satiety and craving that anyone could point me to? It would be interesting to see a study that examines how different foods impact these when introduced in an average diet.

If you go for React, I would highly recommend Mobx for state management. And create-react-app + yarn eject to get started. CRA is a joy to work with. Mobx is a bit more difficult to grok and debug for newcomers than Redux, but it's rea

My first advice to anyone regarding CSS: Don't just slap on more rules to get things working. Gain an intuition and you'll be so much happier and produce much better layouts. But yes, I am also under that impression.

I prefer using user agent sniffing and adding the class ie to body. With autoprefixer you get a lot for free too. But I do have a certain fondness for wrapping modern layout in @supports(display: block) {}. It's kind of like a hidden f

There was a lot of churn in JS. Things have gotten pretty damn stable. I usually use Express(2010), Socket.io(2014) and React(2013) for new projects. The libraries that break with new versions are the ones that rely on exotic features.
