I like to plan by coding prototypes. It depends on the task at hand, but for certain problems it can be nice to create a new branch or repo even and test out my ideas. I'll often write sketches on my phone too.

What I heard was "You can practically scale indefinitely". Which I guess is more true of NoSQL. As is I/O savings. But it's not something I've ever heard it advertised for.

The university I went to have now switched from Java to Python for introductory computer science. So this type of change may influence this increase in popularity as well. I remember being a bit baffled that they used Java and not Python as

Just curious, I've briefly tried JetBrains and VS Code, and to me, VSC just seems like a worse IDE. Why not just use a good IDE instead?

The common attribute is that these things are generic. That is not an attribute most software has.

And the type of software people make for free is not the same software people get paid to create. I bet few people would be eager to develop banking software on their free time for instance.
