I feel like I could use a 3d layout tool today to escape the z-index dance that seems to be in every code base I've worked in. I'm forever bumping z-indexes like it's an arms race or something.

I froze my credit for free in response to the Equifax breach, and it gave me a little more piece of mind. However, I just had the experience of thawing my credit and I discovered that the companies are back to charging you for the freeze. I

Yes! And the newest version of iOS grants you the ability to say "while using the app" for any app rather than just the apps where the developer gave the user that option.

Why put art in quotes in the article as if to suggest it is not? Seems like the piece got the author to participate and share their experience. Sounds like pretty successful "art" to me.

That has less to do with webpack and more to do with create-react-app which doesn't allow you to modify the webpack config. The gp didn't really need to use gulp, you can compile less with package.json scripts.

Well how about that?! I always run "reduce transparency" and "increase contrast" as I never really like the translucent items (System Preferences > Accessibility > Display), and I too thought the new UI was a black

Certainly. And that may have something to do with the fact that in some fields of study, teaching is the only way to support yourself, so you get some lack luster teachers.

Unfortunately, just because you know your shit, it won't necessarily make you a good teacher. Teaching, to me at least, often felt less about the subject and more about empathy. It's very hard to become a great teacher.

Thanks! No need for processing as I'm fairly "in the moment," if you catch my drift. Maybe you could pick your favorite (or 2 favorites). I am traveling for a wedding, so I won't be able to do a great deal, but I have a

I have such fond memories of wasting hours driving down the old Dixie Highway. That area of Florida is predominately potato farms (chip potatoes), and in another life—before I was a programmer and after I was grad student studying poetry—I

Anecdotally: last year I was riding in a train that hit someone who fell onto the tracks because the platform was so crowded. 30 minutes later, one station away, a woman lost both her legs when a train ran them over. When I lived in Tokyo,

I'm personally not a fan on alignment because of its impact on the project's commit history and diffs. Not saying it's not nice to look at, I just prefer not changing many unrelated lines because a new variable name is one ch

I'm using redux-observables (very similar conceptually to sagas but uses rxjs) and allowing redux actions to remain pure and synchronous has made testing a breeze. Middleware has quickly become the most important redux feature for me.
