A "people manager" should never be put in charge of project or schedule management. It creates a conflict of interest between the realities of the project, and the outside pressure the manager may receive from other teams. That&#

I don't think there's a screenwriter in the world that knows how to do hacking and security stuff realistically.

Not necessarily. I don't know how HoC is produced, but with similar shows (short-season cable dramas) like Game of Thrones, the series is usually shot and produced before the first episode airs.

That fringe is neat. Anybody know if Vim supports something like that? I've never been able to make complete sense of vim's line length options. They never seem to work quite "right".

Anybody interested in these games should snatch them up - Interplay is losing distribution rights to them at the end of December. Who knows how long it will be before they return. Once "purchased" you will still be able to downlo

The design is very clean for a site designed in 1996. Apart from being tiny (was it designed for ants?)

It doesn't have a ranged attack (as far as I can remember), so bolas should really help.

When I was 14, I started learning C from a book that built around this premise. I think it was called "Type & Learn C." It worked - by the end of the summer I was a somewhat proficient C programmer. I still think it's kind of amazing

This is good news for sites like Facebook that track users across multiple, unrelated sites. Individual sites can still track you with third-party analytics tools by creating a CNAME (DNS alias) to a third-party tracking domain.

That's one of the things I love most about Children of Men. It's clearly meant to be a realistic portrayal of 2027 (given the circumstances of the setting). The movie was made in 2006, but the main character wears a London 2012 hoodie. T

Hackers is funny, but I watched it recently and was surprised at the realistic touches. In one scene, a character is showing off his "hacking" books - which included the dragon book, and a Unix book I believe is real.

How are agencies threatened by Google and Facebook? They aren't creative ad agencies. They provide publishing media (Google's AdWords, PPC ads, Facebook ads, fan pages, etc) and tools (Google Analytics) that agencies use to advertise more
