Thanks! Very detailed answer. I've found the weird "make it easy" mindset a bit annoying with Metabase too. The whole questions, nice table names... I'll give Superset a try in my next project I think.

Has anyone tried both this and Metabase? I've used Metabase in a few projects and I find it very nice. This seems more powerful, perhaps? Is it worth it for BI on small datasets?

I'm curious, this is a cross-platform UI library. Does anybody know of any alternatives out here that are (if necessary) MacOS-specific but also easy to use and more "native looking"? Maybe a bit drag-and-droppy? Sometimes I

Love postgres and use it extensively. However, there's always an issue when I start doing the more advanced stuff: how do I combine that with all my years of experience with version control, code reviews, types, tests, static analysi

This is not obvious at all and in fact directly contradicts my anecdotal evidence in many "bubbles". It's likely to be the case for the "bubble" of the Zed authors.

What truly set them apart wasn't inventory. Any large physical retailer could match back them. It was inventory plus ease of use . Which is customer obsession. One click purchase. Next day delivery. Flat fee shipping (prime). No que

A bit hyperbolic, aren't we? Count me in for the destruction of the do-be-evil giant, but we're far from it not being absolutely dominant in the space. I didn't even know what Kagi was.

I guess this kind of fully removes the "they're making money out of it" argument from the discussion on the moral(?) implications of reverse engineering the iMessage proto. Now it's just a matter of: is Apple justified

I don't get it. Surely if you want to watch movies, you go to the cinema, with an actual projector, with a full frame film - not something which has been compressed down to the extent that it relies on digital trickery to make an accep

Care to elaborate? Is it well established that brains do not work at any level probabilistically? I understand the mid-level abstraction is clearly different between LLMs and brains. The whole made of meat vs wires, etc, to start with. But,

What makes me uneasy is that it's the business or individual's whole revenue. Not the revenue generated by the app created with Delphi . That's 100% clear form the FAQ. So if I'm a freelancer, say, doing DB management

It's always the same. Off with the old. Let's use the new. Or new- ish . I thought we, as in the community , learned a while ago that was a bad path to go down. That's why there's a resurgence of old-school (yeah, I k

The demo was exactly what I expected. That being said, quite nice and responsive. Not sure yet what the general purpose desktop metaphor solves in-browser, but nice nonetheless.

My opinion, here's the deal: no, you don't need to abstract any set of classes. That defeats the purpose. But there's a catch: you must be working in a modern component-based framework to work like this effectively. Because

Keep in mind that GPT-4 has a max context size of ~8000 tokens, if I recall correctly. That means that in any given ChatGPT session the bot only remembers roughly the last ~6k words, as a trailing window. It'll forget the stuff at the

I agree there's a difference in the ease of access , a competitive advantage, sure. And I get that people writing public-source (however licensed) software don't want to make it easier for them (as in, Microsoft) to make money
