Agreed. Especially, this part: They were growing rapidly and figured out the revenue game. We have no idea how close Mint was to making good revenue, especially if lead-gen was their only source. Maybe they figured lead-gen wasn't lucrat

Interestingly, somewhere between July 13th and August 30th, 2007 it got renamed to "Hacker News" (I can't remember that happening, or why). Also, I can't remember how I even signed up for HN in the first place, but it must've been mentioned

iTwin is pretty cool. Not sure if it will make Flash obsolete, but it does get around the problem of having to upload everything into the cloud. Not that it's something Dropbox couldn't replicate (without the hardware) and I do agree with t

No, they just won the $50k prize... but it seems like Arrington got some (advisor?) stock if you see the exchange between him, Calacanis and Aaron.

Here’s to the Mint team, from New Zealand, from France, Tunisia, Armenia, Ukraine, Russia, Canada, Greece, and all over the U.S. Hm. So, they got their start in the valley and then hired people all over the world? It reads like an ode to

I like the way the UK/Canada do it. Why can't the US? You need 75 points. 1) An advanced degree gets you 35. A PhD 50 and an MBA 75 (debatable, but good) 2) Gross salary over the last year gets you another 30 points (so if you made above $7

Also, note how Intel's chip quality was atrocious in the beginning, kinda like japanese cars in the 60s-70s and korean cars in the recent past.

+1 on kickstarter - and if you're in NY, I'll give you my couch, the idea is very compelling and if you're passionate about it, you can make it happen. Worst case, you lose the $1500 and end up looking for a job. Not so bad, is it?

It does not have to be highly professional, but it isn't that hard to make something that's not half-assed these days. Even if you don't know HTML.

In short, to create great software 1) Make people happy 2) Focus on Aesthetics 3) Observe the culture code (Read the book, but basically, appeal to people's reptilian sensibilities and round your corners) Joel's a pretty good speaker, but I

I'm confused. Everyone's saying the list of speakers looks great, what do you expect to learn from speakers that you already haven't read on the web? Most conferences are only good as networking opportunities, if that.

And yet, Apple hasn't pulled the app from the app store or said anything negative about it at all. He's just making noise because he runs an AR startup and didn't think of sneaking AR into his app and Yelp did.

also, i think AR uses an undocumented API (another reason to use an easter egg) so I can see apple pulling this app.
