A better feature would be to make documents created by apps searchable via spotlight. Files are bound to apps anyway, it shouldn't matter to users WHERE they're stored, as long as they can search for them (which is infinitely superior) and

My phone spends 80% of its time in landscape mode. Mail, Messages, Safari, Camera, Twitter and the half a dozen games I have are all better in landscape mode than portrait. If you see that list, 4 apps are by Apple itself. Not to mention an

I would guess it'll be ridiculously inconvenient if simply mousing over the images turned them modal with 2 second transitions.

If the close button had an 'onclick="javascript:history.back()"' attached to it, we wouldn't have this problem :) [We can argue the pureness of the demo after that till the end of time though.]

Here's another demo to reproduce the "broken" back button: 1. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker 2. Click the "Innovation" link in the ToC on the right 3. Click the "Entertainment" link (you can just see it) under the "Innova

Not true. A back button is meant to "go back to previous state". When you click a link, then back, you will go back to the previous page or position on the same page depending on the link you clicked. Similarly, if you enable a lightbox and

If you want to do something other than show a bigger version of an image (like fetch extra data about it for captions), just CSS won't cut it. Remember that "lightbox" isn't just the effect, it's a UI control.

So you're saying Apple hasn't innovated as much as we think. 1. They didn't create their processor: I admit, I'm not really into the hardware side of Apple, but really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_A4 credits Apple as the designer o

Ive, not Ives. Secondly, as an Industrial Design graduate, I believe Ive has more of a functional knowledge of subjects like strength of materials. The rest is just experiential from working with industrial engineers and others at Apple. Fo

Innovation is always important. The iPhone was innovative. iOS was innovative. Without those two, we wouldn't be having this discussion. We would still be using Nokias and Blackberries, or Android phones which would be like Blackberries --

Oh snap! Nice try with the University line, except for the fact that I am a designer and have been designing for 6 years now. I've seen all kinds of clients, so I know what I'm talking about. I'm not going to argue further though, because

Sounds like you're a little confused. If a client requires a copy of another site, then no, his requirements don't supplant everything. If you know exactly what you want, you don't need a designer, and hiring one will just piss both of you

This thing is not going to market for Rs. 1500. That much just about gets you a barely usable dumbphone around here, no way it's going to get you a tablet -- even if it runs a free OS like Android. It's quite an ugly beast though ... anythi

This isn't the duplicate, the other one is. This was submitted 2 hours ago (at the moment), the other 1 hour ago. I've flagged the other one, though.

People are searching for "iphone 4 battery" or whatever because the battery of the iPhone has been touted as one of the best. People are reaching this site because the URL to that post and title of the post has all the words, which scores p

I realised about an hour after I posted the question that push notifications are almost exactly the same thing, except that cloud-to-device message APIs is something Google is using themselves to show the power it has, which Apple didn't do

Blame that on the time I posted the question (2 in the morning). But it's not FUD. This was just a question, not a statement. By irrevocably, I had a deeper meaning: Android is shooting for share, and they will get it eventually, because of

Au contraire, Steve Jobs responded to a mail asking him if the Mac was dead with "You couldn't be more wrong." and a "Stay tuned" type phrase (can't seem to find the link right now). I haven't gone through these slides thoroughly because I'

Just because a service has a feature, doesn't mean a user has to use it. At its core, Twitter remains a 140-character-update service. (And no Leo Babauta, Twitter will never go beyond 140 characters because of the SMS-length limit.) And I

Another example of good leadership vs bad leadership is to see what's happening at Microsoft. No dearth of smart people and engineers over there either.

If you think the idea is the easy part, I question anything else that you might say. Also, ideas are evolutionary. Go watch Steve Jobs' D8 interview. See how the iPhone didn't start as a phone, and then tell me Jobs doesn't deserve as much
