So if you bought it and exhausted your download limit, just torrent it. Or just buy and torrent it in the first place to save a little extra for Louis.

Last summer I had some issues getting OAuth working with the Twitter API for Android apps. I ended up using the signpost library. I posted my results with instructions here: https://github.com/adelevie/AndroidOAuth . Maybe it will help you

If anyone here would like to implement their own apps that utilize image search, check out http://moodstocks.com . I've been playing around with it, and the results are very accurate.

There used to be a company called brijit.com that did this. They paid $5 for quality summaries. It was a neat site, had great design, but went out of business sometime around 2008.

dhh, tenderlove, wycats: purveyors of an anti pattern! In all seriousness, I'd love to see a criticism of ORM that takes Arel into account ( http://magicscalingsprinkles.wordpress.com/2010/01/28/why-i-... ). I have yet to see one.

Seriously, these guys have tremendous service. I remember begging them on Olark for a REST API a few months ago. They told me it was on its way. Lo and behold, the REST API is here, and works great. It's really cool to talk to the founders/

You're right. I'll rephrase: The reasons certain devs choose Heroku over EC2 will be the same reasons certain devs will choose Parse over CouchDB and the like.

If true, it would have been a major exit for DreamIt. Assuming DreamIt's stake was diluted to 2%, that'd be $1.6 million from a $~20,000 investment.

A minor tangent, but do db tables whose models use `include` instead of inheriting a base class count as POROs?

This seems like an excellent idea. Is it possible to preserve most of the APIs/design patterns we're used to working with for (no)SQL when using Event Sourcing?

This. At almost every level of web development, we're working with code that generates some other kind of code. Ruby -> C, Erb/Haml/whatever template => HTML, maybe Coffeescript -> JavaScript, and finally ActiveRecord/any ORM -&

If you're building a Rails app, just profile your queries (perhaps with New Relic) before pushing to production.

You're conflating CS with the overall startup/hacker scene. I think hackers are being asked this question because of the pedestal many of them have put themselves on. pg, whom I'm guessing most of us here respect quite a bit, compares tod

Interesting story, though it's tough to gather what your overall point is. You're saying that abstracting server and client logic into monolithic functional code gave you headaches?

The project itself looks great. Novel idea, excellent documentation, etc. But the title of the OP seems a bit off: how does adding an extra layer between the developer and the application code (server code, client-side js) create more trans

The recent TOS and security controversies haven't been good. Up until recently, excellent customer care has been a hallmark of YC companies. The Hellofax guys have been awesome, and incredibly responsive to feedback, as have the Parse guys.
