I agree that google apps are especially bad on safari. Meets is frequently very laggy and sheets can take a long time to load with the UI frozen.

Yes, certain language designs make it easier to break APIs for clients, just like the one mentioned above. I was pointing out that this is bad and we should try to prevent that from happening

The issue is that the API can change unintentionally, breaking clients because of an implementation change.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked with universal linking, but doesn’t Apple’s APIs allow you to carry context? Or at least preserve the URL so you can take the user to where they were? I don’t think you need to hijack the pasteboard just

I think Swift’s error model is my favorite (though Go’s new error stuff seems similar). Unrecoverable errors are unrecoverable (they’re aborts) and other errors are marked in the function’s signature and must be handled explicitly. This mea

Isn’t erlang a very different, almost opposite concurrency model? I’m not an erlang expert but async message passing is a very different style. The limitation around background tasks in structured concurrency is trivial in erlang for exampl

I think my best experience with chatgpt is when I was digging around a typescript library without knowing the language. it was very convenient to enter type signatures and learn what they mean. I rarely am doing work like this where it’s wo

It could be retry logic that gets stuck in certain conditions that have been met by how TL blocking is handled.

Right, there's definitely functional-inspired bones (e.g., a view is a function of state); but every hook is a side effect, even the redux ones. And I don't think it would even be improved by being pure; Elm has much more boilerpl

That it’s unacceptable for a rich company to have poor working conditions does not imply it is acceptable for a failing company to have poor working conditions.

Sure but the interface is typesafe and usually that’s good enough. The two methods of the API (NewContext and FromContext) are typesafe from the perspective of the user.

Is there l10n and i18n support yet? I don’t know how a UI framework can be considered production ready let alone finished without support for string translations. Last I checked, after Elm 19 killed the third party wrappers around Intl I ha
