Everything other than the titles are unreadable. What is with this grey on grey nonsense?

$1000 is a decent monthly salary for a lot of developers in Eastern Europe.

You're confusing developers with generic end users/consumers. Yes, Linux has a low market share among the general population, but it's quite popular with people who write code. For a lot of things it's important to have

Is it me, or these blog posts built on memes are a tad annoying? I can't really take the content seriously anymore.

Symfony2 is definitely not going in the direction of Rails. It was and will be Rails' opposite: built around a dependency injection container, favors configuration over convention and uses as little magic as possible.

PHP was always stupid easy to use (and abuse), the fact that Laravel is another easy framework doesn't turn any tides. The actual tide was turned by Symfony2 which was the first well architected, well designed PHP framework when it cam

That also means that people will never pick it for anything that needs long term development/maintenance.

> Symfony2 instance handles 700 req/s with an average response time at 30 ms That is amazing, even if they're using it only as a REST server.

It's not sad, because most developers are mediocre. It may not apply to you, but if you work in the industry long enough you realize that very few of your colleagues are good/great. And there's nothing wrong with that, but if

There is at least one other popular PHP templating engine based on Razor, called Blade.

That wasn't really my point. Yet another PHP templating engine is a code smell to me. Or project smell, if you wish.

I was excited until I got to this: > Razr Template Engine Even if you don't like Twig (why wouldn't you?) there are at least a dozen template engines already. I wonder in what other places did NIH take over?

I switched because of the Yakuake/Guake/Quake 3 console like functionality it has. I don't live in the terminal but need it constantly, hitting <C-`> is easier than ⌘-Tab-ing until I find the right window.

This argument is ridiculous. Who wants a dangerous job if they can have a cushy 9-5 office job instead? Gender has nothing to do with this.

I've yet to find a font that I like more than DejaVu Sans Mono. It strikes the perfect balance between being monospaced and looking good IMO. Plus it's open source easily installable everywhere. I've tried almost every other

This is a rather low effort post. PHP The Right Way [1] already covers the basics of modern PHP, without turning into a laundry list. Today the most important thing is Composer, not frameworks, especially to those who are just starting out.
