Or, more generally, any "actor" concurrency system. It's built-in in Erlang, you can use Akka in the JVM, there's just a ton of options for message-passing concurrency in Clojure, Go channels offer something similar, and

Surprisingly. Where a construct really has no JS analogue, the structure is still mostly maintained and the extra bits are packed into a function that appears right below the code block.

You get a function that can take N arguments and return a value, or 1 to N-1 arguments and return a function representing a partial application, which itself exhibits the same behavior: add3 = (a, b, c) --> a + b + c x = add3 1

Livescript is a fork of Coffeescript, and LS 1.2 purports to have improved the JS output for readability, so I think you'd be ok.

Quite different. I think a good way to imagine Julia is as a science-flavoured Go with dynamic types. Well, no, that's not quite right. Really, it's more like someone took Matlab and made it a real general-purpose language, and bu

I've got no business preaching, but my synthesis of HN's general opinion on the matter, phrased as a pithy remark, goes as follows: If you don't have the funds, you don't need massive marketing.

I committed what I now realize were true crimes against software engineering when I first learned of function pointers.

Dogbnb in more ways than one: You can choose to pay a sitter to put up your dog for x nights, or you can pay someone to LIVE IN YOUR HOUSE and take care of your dog. It makes sense, of course, but sounds a bit odd.

If you're on Azure anyhow, why not use Windows and skip Mono? I don't have personal experience with either, but I hear that Mono is still quite a bit slower (although still fast enough for most purposes, I suppose).

I suspect core.logic is the more practical library in many cases. I wrote a disproportionate amount on core.unify because I couldn't find any official docs that approached it from the perspective of someone (e.g. me) who didn't al
