Perhaps it is optional for some. The point isn’t if it’s technically required. It’s that these items have less price sensitivity, which could be a greater factor in what industries invest in automation.

Sure but there’s a significant change in price that I can withstand before moving. My point is there’s less price sensitivity for some of these items. And because of that I wonder if that affects the amount of automation suppliers invest in

Yeah you’re right, that’s fair. I just think people don’t behave that rationally. I’m not moving away from my kid’s grandparents because my local costs have gone up, for example. There exists greater friction with many of the items in red t

I can’t help but notice the items of increasing price / cost are not optional / discretionary purchases. Price can increase and not affect demand. Whereas the items decreasing in price are all subject intense competition and price

This is the perfect use case for local models. It's why we set out to create cortex.build! A local LLM

Just like with tool calling, I find models that are post-trained to work with a context system use it more reliably. I don't think bolting on a context system is ever going to work as well.

Yeah, that matches my experience: LLMs are amazing “script interns” and shaky “systems engineers.” One trick that helps on bigger stuff: force it into a tight loop of (1) write a failing test for a single behavior, (2) implement smallest ch

Your FAQ says you don’t store code. But this answer sounds like you do? Even if you’re storing as an embedding that’s still storage. Which is it?

I feel like people who write articles like this have never worked at big companies. My wife works at Shutterstock, first as a SWE, now as a product manager. Most of their tasks involve small changes in 5 different systems. Sometimes in plac

I keep using this excel analogy. When excel came out everyone said accountants were dead. Now we have more accountants than ever. The analogy carries to what you’re saying here. Accountants or folks who know excel deeply can get a lot more

I'm telling you, with all the cost and problems with cloud AI, local is where it's going to be. I'm genuinely shocked people are driving around in Atlas right now, showing OpenAI how to click buttons and how to login to their

We're seeing the same thing for many companies, even in the US. Exposing your entire codebase to an unreliable third party is not exactly SOC / ISO compliant. This is one of the core things that motivated us to develop cortex.buil

It’s convenience - it’s far easier to call an API than deploy a model to a VPC and configure networking, etc. Given how often new models come out, it’s also easier to update an API call than constantly deploying model upgrades. But in the l

Our model is bigger and more capable than gpt OSS and can run at full context at 40 tokens / s. We are rolling out to Mac to start with plans to release windows and Linux within 3 months.

We developed a novel optimization pipeline for LLMs so large models can run on a standard laptop. Our first prototype optimized an 80B model to run at full 256k context at 40 tokens/s while only taking up 14gb of RAM. We are currently

My instinct has been that decline in birthrate is directly connected to the distribution of wealth, at least in the US. Boomers could afford a house and 6 kids on one person’s salary. Today both parents need to work just to afford the basic

Sounds like you know what you want to do. The way I would think about it: If the project doesn’t require much work, passive income is usually more valuable. If it takes a lot of work, then it’s not passive anymore is it lol. Sell that work

Maybe I’m just clueless, but why is this necessary? Are there really that many products using their own models? All the products I see just use openAI and anthropic APIs.
