I very much agree with your general point but still feel 20 is too short. / Somewhere in the 30-50 range.

50 sounds very reasonable. Not only is it plenty long to monetize a work but it may also incentivize aging legends to have a second golden age of creativity at the end of their career. One of my favorite all time musicians is still touring

I worked for AseraCare for five years and another hospice for three. Although it was a large company, most of the branches were small and (I assume) unprofitable. Hospice is a very tough business until economies of scale take hold above 100

Absolutely not. He’s very publicly an a-hole and there’s no way that doesn’t seep into the company culture at large. As for the hardcore long-hour expectations, who’s supposed to be raising the employees’ children? A nanny plus occasional w

Unbranded for “cheap” quality denim, Iron Heart for high end. In general the higher the weight of the denim the longer it’ll last. 21oz denim will last a very long time.

Iron Heart is the high end of quality denim. The lower end would be something like Unbranded. In either case though quality fabric manufactured in first world countries is going to cost a lot more than the stuff you see at shopping malls.

Since a lot of CEOs don’t understand this I’ll explain/remind that buybacks create wealth for shareholders if stock is priced less than its intrinsic value and destroy wealth if overpriced. If you aren’t sure what your company is worth

In my last house I couldn't fit even a baby grand piano and got a quote to add a modest addition to the house just for that. The cost was so high (this was Boston area) that it prompted us to immediately put our house on the market and

I would love to support American manufacturing and buy a Steinway or M&H piano, but it's hard to imagine ever being in that position financially. Who knows, maybe in 10 or 20 more years. My other instruments (trumpet and bass guita

I think there's far too much skilled craftsmanship in a piano to call it American based on design alone. With Apple the company's DNA is the designers and programmers working in California. With Steinway and M&H it's the

The UX I enjoy most is buying a vinyl record, listening to it start to finish while reading the full liner notes, knowing that the artist got the maximum amount of money, and there being no way for any tech company to track how many times I

I've had great experiences with both Ruby and Go. Both are a joy to write, and can handle most use cases. When I'm writing Ruby I sometimes wish I had Go's type system and lightning fast test suites. When I'm writing Go,

I disagree about their being nothing nefarious. It took people years to realize the extent to which FB was tracking your outside-of-facebook activity. I would even guess that many still aren’t aware. Shadow profiles, etc.
