Needing a separate build step is not the hindrance that you think it is. For most developers it's a "set up once and forget" thing, and there are many cases when you would need to transform code during build anyway.

I think you misread op, they explained why the overlay scrollbars (aka "tiny-thin scroll bars that some idiot-designer though were slick because they so minimally interfere with the rest of 1920px-width display") are used instead

Yes, if op wants encrypted mail there aren't many other options around, and I think there was some standard that allows proton <-> tutanota e2ee communication, but I don't remember its name.

I've been thinking about wiring up whisper[0], mozilla's tts[1] and gpt-3 together to make a voice assistant of sorts. Wouldn't have the access to device hardware and no guarantees of correct answers, but should blow siri etc
